According to biblical scripture, Jesus spent 40 days fasting from all food or drink in the desert, resisting all culinary temptations offered up to him by the devil in the process.

As a died-in-the-wool atheist, however, it is only fitting that I should do the exact opposite. In its 40 days of existence, this blog has now officially featured 40 food / drink based entries, with me giving into various temptations (particularly on the wine front) on multiple occasions over the last month and a bit.

Still, even Christ himself had to call it a day in the end. Not that I’m stopping now, no way – am only just getting started here! Still, at 40 entries, 10,000 hits and 130 (and counting) Facebook followers, I think the blog is off to a good enough start here that I can now afford to drop the pace a little and settle down into a more sustainable routine of weekly rather than daily blogging – for the sake of my wallet and waistline if nothing else...
